Hello all,
I need some help. I had an ich outbreak in October and had to move corals n fish(that I could save) in separate QTs. I drained the DT but let the sump running.
Today is 62nd day since the sump is running . I dropped some frozen food in it regularly.
My question is, can I use the media from it in my new tank? I was thinking of preparing a bucket of salt water with lower salinity 1.0 or lower(if suggested) and put the media in there for a couple of days. Will doing so kill any possible ich left behind?
I used polyplab medic while trying to fight ich and still have half a bottle left. Can I use that to condition the water and rid of any ich that's still left ? I have read many threads on this forum but didn't come across a situation similar to mine.
Thanks in advance.

Let it be fallow for 76 days
If you drop salinity, the bacteria will die
Ok. So wait 2 more weeks and then just take the media nd add to new tank? Or do I need to do any more steps?
When can I transfer my corals to new tank? What steps should I take while doing that? I have reef primer coral dip. Will that be enough?

All things that are in a no fish situation will be ich free at day 76. Ich needs the fish to live. So your media and any coral in a free free system will be free and ready to move.
Polylab medic does nothing to kill ich
