Using old led fixtures for heat sinks?

I was wondering if you could take a broken led fixture like a AI sol or vega and use those as a diy heat sink. I see the ones that are "for parts" on eBay all the time.

Why not. As long as you have a good compound to do the heat transfer you are good.

Would be no issues to use as long as you can fit your diy in it.
