Hi I am going to use a used power head to get flow in my tank. Is it safe to just rinse with water before I put it into my tank?should I scrub the pink stuff off? It hasn't been used in 4 years FYI

Remove all part and soak In vinegar. It will look like new after soaking over nite

Also I only have white wine vinegar... Haha will that work?

Whenever you introduce a used piece of equipment I would advise to clean it first. In many cases you do not know the history of the used piece and you could introduce something into your tank unintentionally. A little bit of extra work may pay off in the long run and prevent a disaster.

Hey Spartan,

Take that old Koralia and soak it in your white vinegar for a couple hours (I use white vinegar on my Tunzes and Jebaos). Take it out of the vinegar and clean all parts (including impeller) with a dry cloth. Put back together, place in tank, enjoy!

Looks fine, if it starts, plug it in and let it do it's thing. If it's locked up, soak it in white vinegar over night, rinse in RODI and try again. Nice toenail polish....
