I have been on a 4 year hiatus from the hobby. When I sold all my livestock and equipment from my 150g, I kept my rock. I gave it an acid bath and it has since been sitting for 4 years in a brute trash can. I recently bought a 90g temporary tank for my return, and wanted to get your thoughts on how I can add my old rock to tank. Do I need to soak in Lanthium chloride before adding or is it good to go as is?

Use RODI as you don't want to put anything into the rock from your tap

Its difficult to say because we don't know whats in your rock...If its one dark area for 4 years id rinse and let it soak in a dark container for 1 month and seed it so it helps speed up your tank maturity. Also depends on the volume of rock.

I used a rock recently that was 5 years old and never cured from the ocean.. However, It was sitting outside for most of the time and I feel cured in the sun and snow. I've had zero phosphates issues or algae issues caused by the rock and my tank is 9 months now.

Your gonna get a hundred different answers from hundred different ppl... Find out if your rock has dead organics left by testing for phosphates. If its leeching you need to cure it.. Definitely take this step since nuisance algae will love to feast on your phosphate leeching rock. A cured rock won't have algae problems as will a uncured or half cured rock.
