I’m dosing rs algae management to help with algae and the algae is turning brown. I just want to make sure it’s working and actually killing the algae and not making it worse.

what are your nitrates and phosphates? the algae management is nopox. which is carbon dosing for bacteria to feed on nitrates and to a lesser extent phosphates. you need to watch both of these very carefully, you don't want to drive either one to 0. nitrates around 5-10 ppm phosphates with a hanna ulr phosphate checker .03-.1ppm. your algae will turn brown as it is starved of nutrients. if one of the nutrients bottoms out before the other one gets where you want it you will need to dose that nutrient.

i had high nitrates about 60ppm and my phosphates got to zero and nitrate started to rise again. i had to dose phosphates to get nitrates to come down.

I have a nitrate test kit and it looks to be reading 0 and I can’t test phosphate. But I am still feeding heavily. So should I stop the dosing for a little bit?

don't stop the dosing completely. if you stop the dosing completely the bacteria that has grown will die off and could cause a depletion of oxygen. decrease your dose to about 50% of the minimum dose until nitrates are around 5ppm. you need to get a phosphate test kit asap and keep that around .01-.1ppm
what test kit are you using? most will recommend nyos or red sea pro for nitrates and hanna ulr phosphate or the phosphorous test kits for phosphates.
