I cannot figure out how the heck to
Use rox0.8 Carbon in a reactor. It is so small it goes right through my sponges in my reactor. I’ve tried placing the Carbon at the
Bottom of the reactor and trickling water through it and it all floats. I’ve tried putting the sponges up high so the Carbon is sandwiched between the bottom and top sponges at the top of the reactor and the Carbon goes right through the sponges. What the heck am I doing wrong?
Is anyone else having this problem and if so how do I correct it?

I take mesh filter bags, cut them up and put them over the sponges. Annoying, but works.

Put it in a bag of some sort, or tie off in something like womens pantyhoes. Then drop in the reactor

Size is one of the reasons I’m not a fan. There is no question it works better, but in my tank, it clogs so fast, I never get the full benefit of it.

I also find this carbon hard to use, but I was seeing some HLLE spots with the granular carbon (which I otherwise much prefer) so I’m stuck using the Rox.

I sandwich it between the pads and run the reactor in downflow (instead of upflow). Still is a mess and carbon gets everywhere but it’s better than running in up flow.

I ran it downflow when I used it.
