I will be upgrading from a Fusion 20 AIO to a Reef Octopus Lux T90-48 gallon. The 20 is established but doesn't have a lot of rock. Just a few small pieces with coral on them. I want to be able to keep the cycle to a minimum. Is it ok or advised to use the sand I have in the tank as well? That is, take the used sand from the 20 and put that in the larger tank during the changeover.

When I upgraded from my 16 to the 20 I did use the existing sand and added some. But that was not as big as a jump as this upgrade will be. Everything did great on that smaller upgrade. I did use some Dr Tims and plan on adding that as well.

TIA!!

I would ditch all but a cupful to reseed the new sandbed.
+1 I would also use new sand and start a fresh with just a bit for seeding or just use the Dr Tims

Thanks for the help guys! I'll just use a bit. I have new sand to put in after rinsing and I'll still add some Dr Tims.
