Using seachem biomax in qt tank?

Hiya I’ve set up a 65 g qt tank with an airstone and a spare canister filter in case something goes wrong. I was thinking running biomax and poly wool in it. Q: If I end up having to medicate fish should my biomax be put in the trash afterwards or can I run carbon with it a while, rinse it off and put it back in my dt sump to use it again? Thanks

You can use Biomax with medications, but I would only reuse it in a QT environment afterwards.

+1 ^^^ While Biomax works great and does not, at least so far, absorb copper during QT, I'd soak it in bleach or hydrogen peroxide to remove biofilm, rinse, rinse, rinse and then completely dry for several days. But as Humblefish suggested, I'd "not" put it back into your DT sump. Rather I'd just soak it with Dr. Tim's/Biospira, etc. for several days in its own container before adding back into your QT. It's pretty cheap, I usually just toss it after meds and copper use.

Can't speak for other ceramic ring type media, but I have tested Biomax for copper absorption using my Hanna HL copper checker. There was zero absorption.
