Using something protective between floor and stand???

I’m currently installing an 80 gal cube on my newly installed wood floor. In order to get the stand perfectly level without having any play between the stand and floor , I installed some cedar shims. Play under stand seems to be a very minor low spot in the concrete slab. Any suggestions or experience, please share?

Depending on what your floor is , I probably wouldn’t put anything on it. Wood flooring being the number one no no. If humidity gets between the mat and the wood it’ll just sit there and eat away at the wood.

I'm getting strips of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) cut today at Taps plastics to put under my 200.
I'm attaching the plastic to the frame with 3m VHB double sided tape.

Curious to what people say. I'm planning on installing a 225g tank in my new home.
I believe it has waterproof laminate floors so I don't think it'll be an issue but just want to see what other options there are.

Getting lazier and lazier with upkeep!
Definitely don't put anything under your stand on a hard wood floor. No matter how hard you try, there will be spills and water will seep under the stand. Without a little air pocket under the stand, the floor will rot.
If you are concerned with scratches (like I was), you can get those felt furniture patches at Lowes or Home depot and cut them to fit under the stand's wood pieces that will have contact with the floor.
Something like these:

In my old tank spot I removed the HW floor where the tank was going to sit. Secured and leveled the floor then installed tile with epoxy grout. It really wasn't that expensive.
I'm going to use tile in the new spot again but it'll be over concrete.
I would never use laminate. I really like laminate but I know it's limits. Weight is one of them. Another is water. I don't care if it says waterproof. None say "saltwater proof" Nope. If I were ever to use laminate for a tank the subfloor would have to be rock solid and the laminate must not require an underlayment. I would also never lay laminate on a plank subfloor.
