I'm pretty sure this is how people are using their Reefbots right? :p

As can be seen nobody should be taking this seriously but I was messing around with the reefbot, trying to set it up to test multiple tanks.

Found some old Red Sea test kits that I got while trading\buying stuff on Craigslist. There was also one of these tests left in the Reefbot. So now I have reagent with a 2021 exp date, some from 2017, and lastly from 2015.

Got curious to see what the difference would be. So scooped a liter from the sump that is currently curing rock with very high phosphate readings.

So let's see what is does, any predictions on what the difference will be between the reagents? ;Pompus

For phosphate it shouldn't be a big problem if its expired, but magnesium is ime.

We will find out shortly, hope it's not an issue, that would mean I don't have to throw the old kits out ;Happy

I would guess a wide swing in results. Waiting for your conclusions...

I would expect the same. Maybe minor but 6 years is a long time.. we'll see

Well...

According to this there is no difference, tried both low and high range, all same result.

But... When I test using the Giesemann test by hand I get this..

From 0 to 0.03 on the Giesemann test kit. Although I would thinks that's within the margin of error? Weird though that the red sea test kit in the Reefbot keeps telling me it's zero. I would think I needed to add some because we know zero isnt good, but 0.03 is fine by me. Any thoughts?
