Using water condition on your 0 TDS RODI water

This is a silly question probably but I got so many false positives when trying to google it. If I understand correctly you can have 0 TDS water and still have some undesirables that made it through like chloramines etc? Just wondering if using water conditioner on 0 TDS water could be of any use since I have an excess of the stuff laying around.

I throw 2.5ml of prime in my 35g holding tank when I do a full refill.... I figure “what harm can it do”?

I don't see the need. It's 0 TDS....you're fine.

I'm not sure what's in Prime, but as an old fart, in the old days we'd simply use sodium thiosulfate to remove chlorine. It's simple chemistry and wouldn't be a bit surprised if that is what is in Prime. That said, why add it if it's not needed.

If chloramines have made it through your RODI system, then your RO membrane is shot. Chlorine and chloramines should be removed by your RODI prefilters, specifically the carbon block, before ever touching the RO membrane. Chlorine and chloramines will destroy an RO membrane.

That said, if you’re getting 0 tds out of your RODI system, I would forgo using any additives like Prime.

If I'm not mistaken if your water contains chloramine you should be running dual carbon blocks correct ?

Easy way to tell is with a pool test kit. Test for total chlorine (TC) and free available chlorine FAC

Subtract FAC from TC and that is your chloramine/ combined chlorine (CC)
