USLiveRock recommendations

I’ve been looking at usliverock.com for 5lbs of live rock but can’t seem to find any recommendations on r2r. Can anyone vouch for them or is it a scam?

I used to work at my LFS and they literally put tap in their “live rock” tank to top it off every once and awhile and they charge like 14.99 a pound. Also, I already have a tank, I was just hoping to get some diversity in my tank from actual ocean live rock so a local hobbyist wouldn’t really help.

Well, there is nothing about them on R2R so that may be a clue. I've been in the hobby for 30 years and I've never heard of them. I find it strange that they claim to have been in the live rock business since 1997 but no one on here has apparently gotten rock from them. Also, I just find it funny that they say they are doing live rock aquaculture to sustain the reefs, no they are doing it because it has been illegal to collect live reef rock from Florida since the late 90's (actually 1989 from Florida state waters).

They may be legit but I personally would go with Tampa Bay Saltwater.

I’ve spoken to him before on the phone, but that’s as far as I went. His prices are great. I’m preparing to do a pretty large order. I have a 200 gallon that failed a leak test today. Lol. Easy fix though. I’ll be ready to order in the next few days. Need to nail down the who’s and where’s.

I ended up getting a little bit from Gulf Live Rock. I didn't even realize that I could call him. The prices and the lack of reviews were enough to turn me away though.

Yeah, he even went as far as to tell me when he’d be diving next. A good friend of mine that owns an LFS says that he knows who he is, but has never worked with him. And I have found a few reviews, just not many, and who knows how legit they are. I might just do a small order, and see how it goes. If I like what he sends me, I’ll order more.
