Utilitarian fish/stocking fish for 60 breeder?

Fwiw, I kept my yellow tang in a 40 breeder for about 5 years with no issues at all. I've since (many years ago) upgraded to a 125 and that's where it lives now. That fish is nearly old enough to drive today. I wouldn't recommend a whole lot of tangs for a smaller tank, but a yellow in a 60 breeder would be perfectly fine for quite a while, IME.

Have to check to confirm but think it’s Dr. Reef? Outside of Tulsa about a 3.5 hour drive from me. Said he would pair up a white tail bristle and biota yellow tang for me. Granite all changes once you plop them into a new home. He suggested those be the last 2 I add and do both at the same time. I do plan on hopefully upgrading tank sizes at a later time but I don’t want to buy any fish with that in mind. If they won’t work in the 60 it’s a pass! He said a biota yellow would be fine in my tank but as we all know It’s a controversial subject. I’ve always wanted tangs but my other tank (23 years old) is only a 37 gallon and even with my new 60 gallon didn’t think it be possible.

I’m in agreement with your fish guy. Get them together and add last. Sounds like a sweet pairing. Also don’t do a blenny and a bristle tooth. They’ll compete for the same food and white tail will probably kill the blenny or at least try.

I think both would be fine. I have a tomini as well and the two fish couldn't care less about each other. The tomini is a far smaller fish vs a YT and would likely be OK in a 60b for a very long time.

I’m not familiar with the tbs live sand, but for high flow and wrasse compatibility I haven’t seen anything better than Caribsea “reef sand” so far.
But tbh in my tank it’s still barely tolerating vortechs at 20pct. I have a 80 gallon shallow reef display similar to your frag tank.
Same. I used Carib Sea “Ocean Direct” sand and I didn’t have an ugly stage, but it might’ve been due to all the older live rock as I was moving from a 60 into a 90. But I definitely recommend it. Also scads cheaper to purchase than TBS live sand. I’d still get their live rock again though.

Even an algae blenny? There the most peaceful fish ever and like little ninjas perched up on the rocks?

Planning on 20lbs live rock for the 20L refugium macro display/sump and haven’t decided on the sand. Weather do all live sand from them or just order 20lbs or so and just seed the Caribsea special grade I’ve got already. Petco had 40lbs bags of it on sale one day for $25-30 so bought 2.

Been curious on biota yellow tangs hmmm…
Got yellow tang from Biota about 6 months ago. Arrived about the size of a quarter and has grown so much. Definitely a great fish to showcase and can’t go wrong with cultured fish. Also have gotten filefish, watchman goby and mandarins from them as well. Great source in my humble opinion.

Would love to order several different fish from them but seems they’re frequently out of stock on a lot.
