Utility pump with ribbed inlet

I would rather not use the Python that hooks up to a faucet. I want to use a Python Pro Clean ( tube and hose only ) and attach it to a pump with an inlet that I can connect the hose to. The utility pumps I'm finding seem to have the ribbed end where the hose connects to on the outlet side. The inlet side is smooth. The sicce nano for example. Is there a pump with a ribbed inlet side? Worse case I guess I can just zip tie it to the smooth inlet turret.

Some pumps are made to accommodate pvc slip fittings, from there you could weld on a pvc barbed fitting

Ok thank you. I was just curious if there was a pump that fulfilled my needs out of the box. I'm also wondering if sand being sucked through the pump would damage it?

Yes sand would damage the impeller, at the least clog it

Hmm so sounds like I either only suck out the water with the pump. If I want to use the python to suck out the debri under the gravel, then get the python hand pump.

I’ve seen the maxi jet 1200 pump clean the sand bed with one of these attached.

Yes I've seen that. Can also be used on the sicce nano. Hmm maybe I don't need Python at all. Just put a pump into my tank to get the water out and vice-versa to get new water in. Get a power cord with a foot switch to make turning the pump off easier. Then use this attachment for cleaning the sand bed.

That’s what I do! My fancy foot pedal is a surge protector switch on a power bar
