I'm looking for a pump that to submerse in a 40 gallon pail of salt water and pump it up one level in my home through a 75' hose. What would you recommend that won't break the bank?

I use Marineland Maxi-Jet 1200s for my utility pumps. I just picked up another one used for $20 (CAD)... They can handle about 6 feet of head, maybe more and the tubing/hosing can be easily found at Lowes or Home Depot or whatever...

You're going to need something that can handle 10-12 feet of head pressure at least, probably more like 15. If you figure 8-9 feet for level and then 4-5 feet for tank height. If you're just looking for something for water changes, then flow rate isn't as much of a concern.

Oh, yeah, I misread...

A Mag9.5 would be a good bet then. They hook straight up to garden hose... But they are a bit more than $100...
