My utter chaos has looked a bit angry lately. Nothing is stinging them, no fish are picking at them but they have retracted a bit.

I've got about 25-30 heads on this piece that is turning into a mini colony. It had 5 heads a few months ago and has grown really fast.

Am I right to assume that there's just so many heads just fighting each other for light and as a result they're looking angry? If so when do I frag?

Never fragged zoas before so I'm fairly new to this area. Thinking. The pink ones behind the utter chaos (pink zipper I think?) Might need a frag too.

Thanks in advance for any insight anybody could provide.

They generally just spread out as they are growing. So long as they have a place to move to and grow out on there should not be an issue with crowding. Likely something else is ticking them off. What, exactly will need some investigative work.

The plug is just into a hole in the rock. There really is no place for them to spread out as the plug is elevated slightly from the rock. Should I just clip the plug and put it flat?

They shouldn't be angry because they are growing. Check your parameters. Have you change anything?

I lowered the nitrates and phosphates in the tank. That's it.
