I bought a UV light used and looking for feed back.
Do all UV lights burn the inside?
did the previous owner screw screw me or just replace the bulb and all good?

The tube has burn marks inside the mid section

i think thats the affect of leaving the bulb on without water running thru it
if the new bulb fires up, and it doesnt leak you are probably fine

is the quartz sleeve in good shape, if it fails you can blow the bulb and possibly ballast so make sure to water test it before putting the bulb into it

I have a 40w Pentair UV sterilizer, and the body is black, so I can't see what it does to the body itself. I agree with above in that if water is running thru it at time of use then it shouldn't burn the body. I would replace the bulb and check the quartz sleeve. They do need to be cleaned yearly to prevent deposits from building up on the quartz sleeve.
