UV - Bubble algae

Will UV have any impact on free floating bubble algae? I know it will work on the spores, but was unsure about bubble algae that might detached from the rock.

It would seem to me large pieces of Valonia would just clog the UV pump intake if that much is floating around. Your mechanical filtration should grab any free floating material. Spores are a myth so pop to your heart's content.
