UV for Spirulina

Been spirulina free for about 6 months and the junk has come back.. a little patch but its back none the less (checked with a microscope)... I have chemiclean I can dose but I'm super worried about getting dinos again afterwards..
Does UV effectively kill spirulina? The dinos I have in my tank are of the amphidium type so UV probly won't keep them from springing up afterwards

Yes and no. I run a UV sterilizer and it does help keep things in check, but algae still grows in tiny spots in my tank (it's just not running amok).
