Hi reefers,

Would it make sense to have a UV sterilizer connected to the fish quarantine tank or does this interfere with any medications? Wondering what else I can do to increase the chances of fish getting healthy.

Thanks!
Matthias

It can't hurt if you can swing it. I wouldn't expect any miracles, but it might help to kill certain waterborne parasites.

If medicating, then don’t run the UV

Medicating as in any meds? What about copper? Is there any science suggesting that UV impacts copper? Trying to find my way though the jungle of science, personal experience and myth in this hobby ;-)

Some medications are broken down by UV. Chloroquine phosphate for example; also some antibiotics. I run a UV on my QT tank but turn it off if I need to use any medications.

First question here is what are you trying to accomplish?

yes old post but i want to ask same question. lately i have being getting bad luck of doing ttm, it has being ok for big fish in a past for me, but small fish just dont make it through 12 days of ttm, and sims to me all i can find is small fish being offered. now considering changing methods to the quarantine, instead off ttm for 12 days, only going to do 2 transfers and put fish in 20g cycled tank. and thinking of adding max i can get UV sterilizer for that 20g tank
any thoughts?
