Hi I have had a thriving reef tank for about a year but the last week I had an algae out brake do to some snails dying in the system but I wanted to know if UV lights are ok to run on reef tanks and what are the bad thing that happens if I run a UV light and a phosphate reactor using rowaphos
All water parameters are now in prestine condition and it is a 45 gallon tank with 2 true percula clowns 1 sailfin tang 1 blue tang and 2 yellow tail blue damsels 2 striped damsel and all fish are doing great just wanted to know if UV lights are ok to use in a reef tank while using a phosphate reacted with rowaphos filter media

I've run a uv on reef tank for 2-3 years and no problems at all. I'm using a turbo twist 12x with a 400 gph pump on a 120. I've always had very healthy coral and super clear water. Can I say it's the uv? No but the combination of good reef keeping and doing everything right they're def are no ill effects. And don't listen to people who say it kills pods etc....because my experience is I have tons and tons of pods in fuge and always have. Jme

Ok thank you I was concerned if it would kill my little kritters like pods and stuff so thank you
