UV light in the display tank?

I have dino's in a new nano tank. It is literally a 5.5 gallon aqueon with a hob filter. Can I put my uv sterilizer light directly in the tank exposing the fish and corals or will it harm the inhabitants?

I put the small green killing machine from petsmart in a 13.5 evo when I had the dinos that would go waterborn at night. It cleared them up after 2 nights and didn’t harm anything else. I only used it occasionally.

I have heard of that uv but don't know anything about. I have the one one that drops in the back of my I'm nuvo made by innovative marine but I could just pull the bulb out and put it in the main tank. Does the green machine just have a light that exposes everything in the tank to no ill effect or is it in some kind of canister and you pump water through it?

Sorry, I don’t know anything about the innovative marine UV. This is the one I used.

I have same UV sterilizer- you could put just the bulb in the HOB filter and cover the filter with cardboard or something to keep the light in(as it's bad for you too). It won't work as good as the uv light waves only kill within a inch or so of the bulb(that's why it comes from IM with the sleeve around it). But given time it should kill the Dinos.

I wonder if I could rig it up in the main tank where the hob dumps into the main tank and into the Innovative marine case with the light in it? I dont think it would fit in the hob. It might, its an aqua clear 50 I think
