scored this smart uv 25 watt with extra new bulb and seals on CL today for $90.. thing is massive.... i wanted to mount it vertically but thats not gonna happen.

it fits in front of my sump horizontally ,should be ok like this? and whats a good pump to get?
 
Watts per flow rate is what determines the dosage rate, or effectiveness.

You have to define what you're targeting and why at the beginning, so you can set up the proper dosage rate and plumb it properly.

I think Emperor is part of Pentair Aquatics, which I think is part of Aquatic Ecosystems now....so you can try contacting them for more details and recommendations.

Yours is capable of 8 gallons per minute while still giving a 30,000 microwatt/S dose.

That's 480 GPH....enough to handle the return flow for anything from a 120 gallon up to a 180 or so.

That's a lot of coverage for a smaller tank.
