New to the forum. I have a 100 gal. Coral tank. I was wondering if installing a UV light is really worth the money?

For what purpose? If coral growth, what lights do you have currently?

Welcome to R2R!

I have 2 radios XR15 lights. I’m sorry I meant UV Sterilizer. I have had this tank for approx. 2 months, and I was hoping it would help with the Cyano and any other bacteria or algae that might show up. This is all so new to me, and I have not had a lot of luck with my local shops.

Call it an insurance policy- It can prevent parasites, algae and bacteria before it begins BUT do understand, it will address what passes through its water passage and bulb and not single out cells and pull them in. If youre not having these issues, it then would be optional

Agreed with above. Most people don't have them

I had a seemingly endless bacterial bloom that I fought with for several weeks. UV light cured it in two days. I run it a few hours each night now for crystal clear water.
