Does it make a difference if i mount my 57w vertically or horizontally? Will air gets trapped inside if its mounted horizontally? I dont have space for vertically

Water flows regardless of orientation

Charbrl101,
I have my 40w mounted horizontally but plan on switching to vert for extra floor space. I have a buddy that has his 6’ UV filter mounted vertically and has noticed decreased flow rates. My guess is this is due to head pressure. He is planning to change his to a horizontal mount.

I personally prefer horizontal as I find it is easier to leave room for switching the UV light as opposed to vertical.

Of course it depends on how you install it, but easier to work with horizontal most of the time

Gotta be sure to prevent air buildup in the unit though

Most manuals give mounting directions, i would suggest to follow those since some brands will void warranties if it turns out it was mounted incorrectly. Mounting incorrectly can lead to heat buildup since the lamps are cooled by the water. Also most will tell you to point the electrical side up for obvious reasons...

You dont want strong flow through uv though. You want to maximize contact time,
Sorry, I don't mean strong as possible beyond the UV's recommendation. I mean that if it is installed within the GPH ask that the UV is designed for, the air bubbles should not be a problem.
