UV plumbing, output goes into display or back into sump?

Planning out my plumbing for my 225g build. I have a Vectra L2 for a return pump that T’s for 2 returns. Then I have a Vectra M2 for the sole purpose of running UV and any kind of filtration down the road.
Both Vectras sit in the return chamber of sump, do I have the outflow of the UV going up and over the top into the display tank, or do I have it feed back into the input of the sump?
In my mind I think going into the display would be best, but will that be hard to match up the overflow and both return pumps?

Returning to the display will reduce the percentage of water that will recycle through the UV. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing for your setup I'll leave to you to decide.

The engineering behind effectively using a UV on a tank is a closed-loop to the display literally a siphon and return hanging off the side of the tank 2 only treat the display water

UV output to the display would be optimal, but having a pipe coming over might not be something desired.

If pulling from the sump, your best bet is to pull from the first chamber, and UV output in your return pump section, or if you have a chamber before the return pump.

It’s an in-wall with fish room on other side, so I’m not worried about the pipe coming up over the top. No one will see it from display side.

I’m wondering the same thing. I’m also In the middle of my build and my plan is to have a dedicated pump in the return section of the sump and returning to the display. Mine too is in the next room so I’m not concerned about the pipes. I want to get the most out of my UV. What I’m wondering is how I should put it back in the DT. Should I just dump it, diffuse it or take it all the way to the bottom. Bottom seems like the best bet.

Just dump in the top of the tank or extend the pipe to a diffuser head located just above the substrate. Is this over thinking?

I wouldn’t want it much lower than the water line to prevent back siphon
