I have a Red Sea reefer 250. I bought a aqua ultraviolet 8watt uv for it. I'm looking for ideas how to plumb it in. I'm running the stock vinyl tubing that came with the tank for the return. My return pump is a ecotech Vectra s2. The pump is 1400gph and I'm running it about 50%. The uv calls for 214gph. How could I tie this into my return line? I was thinking about a tee with a ball valve to the uv then tie it back into the return line. I just don't know how I could determine 214gph going through the uv.

IMHO. Unless you have a flow metee. Otherwise, find a 5g bucket and start filling it with a timer on hand.

214 seems amusingly precise. I’d imagine you could probably get away with something close. Why not just use a small power head.

if you used a tee fitting coming off the pump with a gate valve to measure the flow, that is how i run mine. how i calculate the exact flow for my exposure rate i fill up a 5 gallon bucket and see how long it takes to fill . say it takes a minute to fill it up , the math would be 5 gal in 1 min so 5gal x 60 mins in one hour is 300gallons per hour. it seems stupidly simple but that's kinda what i like about it
