I just got this UV. It doesn’t look like the ones online... the ones online look capped at one end and what are these little white adapters for? Can anyone help me make sense of how I need to plump this thing... I was expecting to just plump it inline with my return....

That looks to be some modification of that particular UV sterilizer. I sincerely hope that no liquid would ever be going through those endcap additions. Remove the elbows and plumb normally. I am assuming you got that second hand?
Who knows for certain? The person that you got that from. Hopefully, nothing else was modified...

My guess is that those two fittings are a type of weep hole. If water gets past those end seals, the entire quartz sleeve would fill with water and flood the bulb. Those two weep holes would allow any water that gets past the end seals, to just drip out and also let you know that there isn’t a tight seal on the quartz sleeve. Just a guess though.

Wow!!

That has been turned into a Frankenstein???

Mine came with 3/4" screw in barbed fittings and just ran with those.

The flow comes in the flat bottom and returns back to the sump on the top UV end.

Plug up the two small elbows then make sure it's watertight before you take the time to permanently plumb it in.

Bzzzzttttttt....I'd be really freaking careful with that one.

I'm guessing that AutoAqua would sell you a couple of replacement caps and then you'd be on your way assuming the bulb and sleeve are in good shape.

@Blakerr

You got an Aqua VU Ozone/ UV combo unit... :)

Ahh mystery solved. Now for the other bad news. The quartz is broken :/

I also got a 25w unit that looks like it is not the ozone 2 in 1. I think I am going to use that one instead... also need quarts and a bulb for that one... RIP... Better luck next time. I got the guy to send me 45 bucks back. I got the 8w and 25w units. just need quarts sleeve and bulbs for each..
