Hey Folks - question - Do all of you run UV serilizer all the time ? or 50% of day or 25% of the day is good for a stable system once you have clarified ?

Also is UV required if you are already using Ozone ?

My only concern is due to heat and energy wastage.

I use a UV 24/7 to hopefully prevent or keep ich at bay. I know that some people only turn on their UV if they see ich or have an issue. The downsides are not great enough for me to want to put it on a schedule.

I have no experience with ozone, but Im 90% sure that it requires a skimmer, as it uses it in some way.

Thanks, I have a ozone setup so thats already in progress - however i still seem to find dino, cyano and algae outbreak from time to time. and would like to get ahead of it - what i mean by that is run it for 15 days and get the current water sterilize. Then may be run it either on a schedule or when there is an outbreak.

I run mine 24/7 if something like ich or dinos pop up. Otherwise it’s on between 23:00 and 05:00. Generally I prefer not to heat my tank up needlessly
