Hi,

I have a breakout in my tank - symptom flashing and white spots occasionally.

I have done TTM and fallow for 12 weeks and 4 months later I’m in the same spot. I’m at a point I just want to give up honestly and at a last ditch effort would like to introduce a UV steriliser to the DT. I know it’s note a cure.

I’m looking at the D and D professional 20W steriliser. Rated for tanks between 500 to 1000 litres. It is recommended to be used at 1000lph where it distributes 30,000 microwatts/sec/sq.cm. ( for pathogens should be 72,000)

My tank is 650-700L I have no clue how to decide what flow to put through it.

can someone tell me or show me how to work this out please appreciate any help

From what I've seen it's usually pretty linear. So for a rough idea - 30/72 x 1000lph = 416 lph. That said...I do not know this model or what they base exposure rates on. I've read a few different manufacturers and the range of effectiveness is 75,000 uw/cm2 to 130,000 uw/cm2. Yours is slightly on low side of that, but it also depends on bulb (UV types generated), flow (contact time) and design (distance). I would contact the manufacture and confirm your usage.
