am adding a uv and am looking at some videos for installing now BRS says not to install in sump as a closed loop out of sump back into sump to install out of sump into display whites you advice don't have to much room inside the stand

I would install from the return from sump to the tank you don't want to kill anything beneficial that is in the sump

I think a lot of things in the hobby are over complicated sometimes

I imagine the reason for closed loop is the flow rate from your return pump will be far too high for the short contact-time with the UV bulb to do anything meaningful

I run a Vectron 600 at about 400L/hr on my Reefer 170, closed loop

I run two return pumps with one through my UV at minimum flow. Where my other pump returns at a lot higher rate.
