Uv sterilization unit /sump

Sorry to ask this, I'm interested in adding uv, but, are all the units the tiny ones and buy a pump? I couldn't do like a light on sump hanging from inside stand onto the water in the sump I'm building? Thanks.

You don't want UV that isn't contained to be just shining all around the sump. For one it dilutes the light and not as effective. Also its super bad for your skin.

...and eyes. PVC is also not UV stable, so it will make your plumbing go brittle.
