About the ich...is that because you don’t know the flow through the UV?

It’s at 150 gph through the UV filter. It sterilizes the water at that flow rate. It may get most of the ich that is free floating but there will always be some in the rock or substrate. It’s a large unit plumbed outside of the sump. It would never fit inside my cabinet. It has been running 3 months full time. No issues with the jebao. I personally feel it helps with ich. But can’t say it would eradicate it.

How big is your tank? I honestly don't see how that could be effective against ich if that is your goal. Bulbs cost twice the price of that unit. I'd be shocked if it did much

120g says it’s for a 150g

No way big enough for a 120. They can say it's ok for 1000g doesn't mean it is. Also doesn't say it'll kill ich for that size. It may kill some algae but that's all

Thanks! I just found that and emailed a company that sells it . They said this:” from the manufacturer that the main component of the black powder is carbon, which is harmless to the fish. And we also use this kind of UV sterilizer in our own tank for over one year, it just turns out that the item is safe. “

So does that mean what they found was carbon or is the plastic shell made from carbon? I saw the video of the black stuff coming off.

Burning plastic (organochlor-based substances like PVC) releases dioxins.

Good call. I wonder why the manufacture is saying its carbon tho? I want this unit but I am scared of the burning plastic if thats what it is. I really will never know and I guess its not worth testing.

I don’t think it is worth the risk. The unit is pretty small. What size is your tank?

Mine is 120g, I will not be using that unit. To bad it leaks black plastic, they really should fix that/recall them. Oooo China
