I have a 30 gal. tank with community fish. I have an aquaclear 70 filter with output water flowing into a bag of 'macaroni'. Did some modification to the filter
My other filter is a fluval 405. My 5W clarifier finally went-internal leak after 20 years.

1. I am thinking of getting an in line 7-9W sterilizer.
My local store recommended the 'Deep Blue Clarity Pro 9W inline sterilizer'- flow rated as 100-200 gph. However, both the inlet & outlet are on the same end. They maximize sterilization by having the water flow through a 'channel' from the inlet to the outlet around the bulb. However, might there be a problem of air getting trapped as opposed to a unit where the inlet & outlet are on opposite ends. Read one review which criticized their use of silicone to seal the water chamber from the quartz uv chamber..
The other 2 systems recommended to me were the Vecton 2: V2 200 8 Watt -(maximum effectiveness- 180 gph) or the SUNSUN CUV-107(Formally Terminator) 7 WATT QUARTZ UV STERILIZER - Suggested flow rates 175.
Appreciate feedback especially on the Deep Blue.

2. The fluval 405 is rated at 340 gph. I was thinking of splitting the outlet from the fluval with one tube going to the tank and the other to the sterilizer, with both pipes of the same diameter. I know I would have to either play with the diameter of the tube flowing onto the tank to effect the gph of the out of the sterilizer or use a valve. Is this feasible?

Greatly appreciate any help & advise especially re the Deep Blue or the alternatives. Thanks.

What did you end up getting? Im already planing to return my Pentair 18w. Gonna be too big. TheVecton 2: V2 200 8 Watt is more ideal in size and highly rated.
