UV Sterilizer (Amazon UV Lamp)

Anyone else ever used these?

Had a bacteria break out in my tank clouding the water and this thing put in the overflow took it out in 12 hours. Thinking about running it on an apex at night.

What's the catch between one of these and the $$$$ ones?

I would not based on type of construction (cheap) , pond recommended and ability to get replacement parts mainly bulbs.

I have not used that one, we just connected the Jebao 36w for our 50-gallon DP.

Well it was $17... and did the job of clearing out a bacteria bloom. If it quits working tomorrow, I'd consider it a success. I searched and didn't see others using. Probably not as effective as the $$$ UVs...but it served its purpose for me.

I bought it and it cleared out the bacteria bloom. Can't speak to effectiveness for anything else which was I was curious. Conceptually, it's a UV light and should be hitting a similar flow as my sump turnover since it's in the overflow.
