Hey there reefers...I just found a good sale/clearance on UV sterilizers at live aquaria. It is the lifeguard brand pro max..some of them are right at 50% off. I am going to roll the dice on the 55 watt 5 inch ...( there is a 20% off code for orders over 200 including clearance but that ends today) I just thought y'all should know! I need a little advice about the plumbing..the one i ordered looks like it has 2" inlet and outlet. my return pump is strange ( got my whole tank/setup used) the return pump has pvc glued to it and goes to a T then 3/4 black tubing to the returns..this is fine by me though I wouldnt have set it up that way..anyhow..im wondering what parts ( names) I would get to plumb this in..I am wondering..since I have one return hose hooked up to a rollermat..the other goes into the sump sock area of my tank...Im wondering.could I just have the return hose plumb into the UV then dump into the sump section...or would that not work..it would seem it could work and the flow wouldnt be to high...my plan is not to run the uv around the clock but maybe half the day ..would love to hear from some who have done UV's and also know the names of plumbing parts and best place to find the right ones to set the thing up.

I just picked up the 120W big daddy for $368! ;Jawdrop

Discounted base price, then adding in FBSAVE20 coupon code.
Blue tang clan...what a cool name! classic! hey im glad you got one..that is the big daddy one..Im loving the 55 watt I got..with the discount I got it for just under 200 bucks! Im loving this thing..it appears to be very nice quality so far and my water is sooo clear...it actually was easy to install..there are youtube videos for installing the bulb and such..strangely I dont recall any paper instructions...but there are two videos on youtube that show the basic step by step

I been looking all weekend for a uv sterilizer. Is there a link you can drop

FWIW, I’ve had UV sterilizers on quite a few systems. IMO, they are not very effective against anything but algae. Thing is, there are lots of things you can do to control algae. We had a huge one on our 500. One day it got unplugged. We think it was off for months (based on power bill) and we never saw any change. We left it off. There is a lot of conversation about UV.... some swear by them. I’m one of the folks that don’t.
