Hello everyone, I’ll be starting my new 50.3 Waterbox sometime this month, and after the tank cycles I want to add a uv sterilizer. Problem I’m having is choosing one that will fit, and will WORK.

What do y’all recommend?

TIA

I have also never used one and personally I’ve never seen the need for one. Is there a specific reason you want to run one?

Just for the benifits of it, if I can help my tank even a little I want to give it a try. I know people either really like UVs or don’t.

I run a UV sterilizer on my DT for 1 week before and 1 week after adding new fish coming out of QT. Attempting to reduce circulating pathologic bacteria and parasites while the fish are most vulnerable to infection. It's a powerful and pretty safe tool, but I don't run it the rest of the time as it is capable of killing algae and larvae that corals use as food.

I've never run one myself either. I'm not familiar with the Waterbox product line or sump arrangement but I'm assuming it has an AIO rear sump. You might want to at least investigate Innovative Marine's UV Sterilizer / Clarifier. It comes in a couple different sizes and is designed to fit into their AIO nano rear sumps. Look at the Innovative Marine site under the category AquaGadgets; that's where you'll find it. I have several of those gadgets and they seem to be well designed and constructed. I didn't have time to look into the Waterbox set-up before posting this but once you look at the IM offering you'll know immediately whether or not it is an option for you to consider further. Good luck.
