UV Sterilizer Knocking out Parasites?

Has anyone ever beat ich, velvet, etc... with a UV? Also is anyone comfortable enough with their UV that they won't QT fish?

Would it be practical to put a 40 watt on a QT tank, and run 40 gph through it on a 29 gallon tank to decimate parasites?

UV can supposedly help with MANAGEMENT, but not eradication of ich.

used one as well as other precautionary measures on my previous tank without QT with great success. Ran UV 12-14 hours a day. When adding new fish, I ran them through safety stop. Fed fish lots of vitamins and garlic with their food. Never had an issue.

Onto my new tank, removed the UV, still did the other things, got my first sign of ich the second week I had the same livestock in the new tank.

It all may be coincidence, but I'm superstitious, now have a UV running on the new tank.
