Hi

I am getting a used Aqua UV Classic 40 watt UV Sterilizer (6month old)
It's say 2" fitting.

If I use coupling/fitting to reduce it to 3/4" both intake & output : would it cause any issue ? flow rate will be a bit low as well. ( I guess it's a good thing ? since slow flow = more contact time ?)

Thank

No problem at all and much more contact time as you said. I run low flow thru mine as most folks do.

So, you are looking to add a UV sterilizer with a 2 inch fitting to your system which is plumbed with 3/4 inch PVC? If so, I would think that the only effect would be the demand on the UV sterilizer would be less than its maximum.

If I may make a suggestion... if you add the UV with a length of PVC and a pump on the input side and then and another on the output side, it would create a portability to the light which would allow you to move it to another tank if need be. Below are some photos of what I did...

Photo 1:
The UV is the black device running parallel to the sump.

Photo 2:
This is the input side of the UV. I have a small pump connected to tin input side and have it resting in the return chamber.

Photo 3:
This is the output on the other side of the UV. I have this side resting in the first chamber of the sump. The water circulates through the UV within the sump. And as I mentioned earlier, it allows me to unplug it and move it to other tanks as needed.
