Simple question… I think. Will this work?

How does the water leave the DT?
The most efficient use of UV pulls water from DT, sterilizes, and returns to DT.

Going through the sump will work but not as efficiently.

overflows… here I’ll fix that question. I’m more wondering if using y fittings off of the return line with a ball valve to adjust flow to the UV and then back into the return line will work. Not the whole system… I have that figured out. This is the first time I have used an UV and am incorporating it at the beginning of the build so I’m hoping to plan it once and build everything together.

they will be wyes but i will need more return than i can put through the UV so i will need it to go through the UV at a slower rate than the return pump is pumping so that is why i have the ball valve off the main line just before the UV to choke down flow to the UV while still maintaining the flow returning to the DT.

I have my UV picking up and returning to same spot in the sump. I am using a slow enough pump based on their recommendation to fight diseases and not just clear water. Not sure how it would've been possible to do this using the main return line.

yeah..I'd still put one more valve where I said for more adjustability of flow...

we also don't usually see wye's being used for pressure they are typically used in venting and drains in plumbing, but reef plumbing is much different obviously.
