I have a 50 gallon aquarium and my sump has a water volume of 20 gallons. So total it would be 70 gallons of water. A friend of mines offered to sell me a 57 watt aqua ultra violet UV that I could plumb in my sump at a price I can’t refuse. Would this be a problem or over kill for my tank? I don’t plan on running it for 24 hours a day. Maybe a few hours at night and I was going to plumb it to a manifold with a gate valve attached to it. Your advice would be greatly appreciated

That is large for your size tank. I run that unit on my 192 gal. 24-7. It may heat the water some. If you don't run it continually it should be ok. I use a 18 watt 24-7 on my 65 gal system.

Nah I don’t plan on running it 24/7

Watch out for how much water it will take to fill up the tubing and the sterilizer if it’s large. Be ready to add some saltwater when you turn it on.
