Hello,
I have a 120g DT with 28g refugium. I guess I'm looking for an inline sterilizer with 3/4" barbed connections. Any recommendations?

Thank you, Les

I agree Aqua UV 25 watt. I have one on my 90 and run around 400 gph through it. I pull the water from the sock side and return to the return chamber.

depends on what you're using it for? algae or protozoan control?

If for protozoan control, do you have alot of fish?

I have a 200g system and I use a 90w UV. I have used a 25w and a 40w and still have minor outbreaks. After I went with the 90w, outbreaks are gone.

I like the Lifegard Aquatics ProMax 90W. Has been great for my 250 g FOWLR. They come in 3" and 5" models. I have the 5" which supposedly gives you more dwell time. Pretty good value.

@blue600 What size pipe return and down flow do you have?

Be aware that 3/4" barbed will be smaller on the ID than the OD and may reduce your flow more than you know. I placed an Apex flow sensor both before and after the UV, in different scenarios on my Reefer 250. What I found was that it was almost impossible to get more than 250gph through those barbed connections, with only 3-4ft of return pipes.

Today, I have a COR15 running at 30% but directly through 1" PVC custom pipes and used 2" to 1" reducing fittings on the AquaUV 15/25W versions. While I have not tested the limits of this, I now easily can exceed that and get towards the higher end, if needed.

Here's a chart from AquaUV and suggested flow rates. Also, I hear to avoid the wiper versions due to rusting.

I am a long-time Aqua UV user and just bought the Lifegard Pro Max 3" 55 Watt, and it is built like a tank compared to the Aqua UV. You can't go wrong with either. I was just surprised by how heavy the Pro Max is.

Mine are all aqua uuv in 40 watt increments Ourlagoon has a sanitron on it which is overkill for a normal sized tank. Have never had any issues with either brand.

I recommend the Pentair models; robust and rated correctly for actual killing of protozoa, bacteria, etc.
