hi .. im in the market looking for 2 decent uv sterilizer. 1 for 130 gallon sps tank and the 2nd for a 280gallon fish only tank ... pls help ..

thanx

I have a Pentair 120w up on a 220g system, running 400gph through it. It has made a big difference to my ability to manage ich. I know I have ich in my system, but have not seen any symptoms in over a year. I believe this is partly due to the uv and partly due to a healthy diet...

I run 75w Aqua UV (soon to be 100) in my 140-150g at 317 gph from pump. 250-500 gph flow seems like the sweet spot for me

I've been running the TMC110 for a while now and been quite happy with it. It is physically quite large though.

where did u get the 120w from ? n how much did it cost u ? brs only have a max of 80watts

It has been a while since I bought it, I'll have to go try to find the email receipt. Looking at the places that sell it now, I am pretty sure it was Aquacave, but I think it was more like $650. I may have caught a sale though, I usually wait to find large things like this on sale. Might be worth waiting for a possible black friday sale ...

I like AquaUV. Running a 55 watt on my 200 gallon at their minimum flow rate, ~1,250 gph with a Sycce pump. Water is crystal clear and fish are healthy.

I run a life guard aquatics pro max 90 watt uv on my 220. They use amalgam lamps which are suppose to be better that standard low pressure lamps. They are very thick at 3 or 5 inches but not as long as many of comparables. The 2” inlet and outlet swivels so it’s is very easy to conform to different plumbing applications. As far as how good is it? Well my water is very clear all the time now. I only clean the glass about every other third or fourth day. And even then it’s not that bad. As far as parasites go? I haven’t had any since I installed it. That being said, my tank was fallow for 90 days and every fish was quarantined and treated with CP before adding. So likely no parasites to even kill. Before going fallow and adding the UV I lost 9 of 12 fish in a velvet outbreak brought in with a coral. So it’s definitely piece of mind. I run it 24/7 at 2.5 times tank volume.
