I just finished cycling my tank, and am trying to avoid as much of the uglies as possible. I have a UV sterilizer that I'm debating adding, but have been getting a lot of mixed information about whether, or not, it will stall the creation of new beneficial bacteria. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Dont do it. You want stuff to grow. Even if you dont like some uglies, many are needed. To keep them down get a ton of pods and no fish.

UV only affects those things contained in the water passing through it. Since the bio filter in your tank resides on and in the rock, the UV will have negligible impact on the bacterial colonies.

This is exactly what I mean hahaha

So many mixed opinions on this.

Yep
Lots of opinions and lots of ways to have successful tank.
