Is too big suggested rating bad for the beneficial bacteria in the tank. I want to maintain a strong water quality for new added fish.
I had a really bad few days when I received new fish stock. 3 new fish died and 2 existing fish died as well.
I don't know if my purple tang had some sort of contagious virus in the tank. I know when few weeks ago, my tang had signs of ich.
I added some sort of Ich Cure and within days the ich went away. I did 2 water changes after that.

My tank is:
70 gallons Cad Light. 34 x 21 x 19 with a Trigger 34 sump.

I found a great deal on Vecton 600 rated for tanks 180 to 500 gallons

Any feedback be great.

A UV will not eradicate ICH but it is one way to try to maintain the outbreak and cycles. I do not run a UV but have read that the bigger the better but be sure to follow the suggested water flow.

Do you QT your fish?

The only way to get rid of ICH is to pull and treat your fish and any new fish and go fallow for at least 76 days. There is a wealth of knowledge in the Fish Disease Treatment threads here:

UV do work if you size them appropriately. The one you listed which is 25W and claimed to be good for 180G plus is not something that will help. A general rule is wattage of UV should be around half of your water volume in gallon. I would go with Aqua UV or Pentair. This is tied to the health of your fish so getting something quality is worth it.
