I have a Red Sea 525xl and installed an Aqua UV 25 watt. I have it plumbed with its own return pump in the skimmer area and releases to the return area.

I know, probably not the best way but only thing I could think of so far. I’ve noticed that the return area is now higher then it usual is, while the main skimmer area is lower, where it doesn’t flow over the baffle now.

Does this mean the skimmer area will now be higher then the return area because of the extra flow from the UV and my ato float won’t be effective?

I totally missed where you said it was routed. Sorry. Can you put the outlet back to the skimmer area and not dump it in the return section?

That might be the better plan. So basically Skimmer area to UV back to the skimmer area and then it would flow as normal to the return area.

If that’s the only way you can do it, yes. There is a brs video on this. They are against this and recommend plumbing in to the return line or putting it on it own closed loop system

Yeah I’ve seen those videos.

I could eventually plumb it off the return pump and back to the display but not sure how my flow would be. Limited room down there in the sump.

Good news is that it cleared the bacterial bloom I had in less then 2 days from over feeding using auto feeders while I was away for 3 days.
