I am wanting to get a UV Sterilizer for my 150 mixed reef tank (size and brand recommendations welcome).
When I built my system I put in a manifold with two 1/2" Murlok valves. One goes to my carbon reactor and the other is currently unused. As I'm researching UV Sterilizers, I am seeing that any of the ones sized for my tank require 5/8" connections or larger. I'm no expert in hydraulics, so would a 1/2" tube be able to push enough flow through an adequately sized UV for my system?
Another option is to get another pump and run is solely through the UV. I've got space for it...

Thoughts anyone??

I think you have to provide more context. Are you going for clarification or sterilization? What pump are you using currently? 1/2” is going to be quite restrictive. Probably you could get 300 gph from a pressure rated pump but likely not from a manifold stub.

Well, when I first posed this question, I didn't know there was more than one way to run a UV sterilizer... now after a couple days research, I see there are, LOL! I'm wondering if I might be better off getting a separate pump controlled by my Apex. I can adjust the flow based on whether I need clarification or sterilization.

Yes, I think you are correct. :)
