Hey guys I'm new here I've been running a 75 gallon with a 20 gallon sump setup for about 9 months now and I'm having problems with brown algae so I've been thinking about setting up a UV sterilizer. What I'm wondering is what wattage I should go with? And is bigger necessarily better when it comes to sterilizer?

Bigger is absolutely better. The longer the light, the more contact the water will make, the more time is has to kill stuff. I dont think they help with brown algae though. They're more for limiting bacterial or parasitic outbreaks as far as I understand.

It would be best to ID what you have. It could be algae, cyano, spirulina, diatoms, dinos, etc. Do you have access to a microscope? A uv sterilizer won't really help with most of these.
