I've seen a video for innovative marines Uv sterilizer and thought will I be able to just stick the uv bulb into my overflow pvc?

Concerns: will it burn the PVC and release toxic chemicals into water?

I've been wanting to add more supplies e.g reactor,chiller etc but can't due to water/ space limitation

The bulbs are in sleeves really for 2 reasons;
1. So you're eyes are not exposed to the light since it will damage them
2. So the water passing through the sleeve / lighted area is in close contact since the uv light must be in their engineered distance and "hold time" inside the sleeve for it to be effective at killing the bacteria.

Awesome! So do you think it'll work if I slide the bulb into the overflow tube?
