So my UV was always running of the main pump, which splits to uv and main tank. Just changed it today to main pump , uv then main tank instead of the sump again. Is this gonna be the better option? i also noticed some white stuff coming ou almost like left over frozen food, not sure thou . Is it safe ?

So in general , was this the better option and should i worry about that white stuff ?

Pictures would be helpful in this instance.

The "white stuff" could be precipitation of some sort. It may also be something in the UV sterilizer breaking down.

It sounds like you have installed your UV "in-line" with your return. That wouldn't be my first choice. I have mine installed in the sump. I have a small return pump feeding the UV in the sump return chamber and emptying out into the live rock chamber. It is separate from all plumbing.

problem is i dont have the space for another pump

I have two UVs both in line on the return pump that dump into display, I wouldn’t do it any other way personally.

White stuff is probably gunk that got knocked loose I wouldn’t worry.

dont have anything else in my sump thou , jsut hardware , no cheato or whatever

Aren't you worried they will act like a siphon in the event of a power outage?

All return pipes under the water will act as a siphon, and yes they siphon water during outage, you have to make sure your sump can handle the water.
